Sweet was first launched as Lunar Wireless in 2017, started by Theil Fellows Hunter Rosenblume and Rohith Varanasi. Lunar Wireless offered a pay-per-use model where users could pay 25¢ for unlimited calling, 25¢ for unlimited texting, and 25¢ per app they wanted to use online for 24 hours. This model allowed users to pay what they wanted for service. However, the service was technically challenging to implement. It only worked with certain phones, and it wasn't easily accessible to people who could benefit most from the more affordable rates.
In the fall of 2019, Lunar Wireless became Sweet. They made their service compatible with all phones––iPhones, Samsung phones, Google phones, etc.––and they introduced new plans. Instead of offering plans on a pay-per-use model or plans with different data amounts, Sweet decided to offer plans with different speeds. This is similar to how you can choose different data speeds from your internet service provider, but for cellular data on your smartphone.
All Sweet plans include 8GB of high-speed data, and you choose how fast you want your data speeds. You can opt for either 0.5Mbps, 1Mbps, or full-speed LTE data.
Sweet’s current plans are as follows:
All plans will be slowed to 512Kbps after 8GB of data usage. And after you’ve used 10GB, speeds will be reduced to 128Kbps.
What makes Sweet different is how easy it is to switch to their network. They'll help you through the entire process, even if you don't know your account number or PIN.
Sweet offers an amazing referral program. You get a special link when you activate your service. For every person that signs up using your link, Sweet will Venmo you $100. I'm serious. This is awesome.
And for anyone new interested trying the Sweet network, they offer a free 30-day trial.
Sweet uses the T-Mobile network for coverage.
Sweet does not support stateside international calling at this time.
Sweet does not support international data roaming with their plans.
Sweet adds standard taxes and regulatory fees to the cost of their cell phone plans.
You can contact Sweet through their mobile application if you have an active account, or you can submit a contact form on their website.
Sweet does not offer any add-ons for their plans at this time.
