Total Wireless is prepaid carrier owned by Tracfone,
Total Wireless is an MVNO that was first started in 2015. It is now one of the many prepaid carriers owned by TracFone, a subsidiary of Mexico’s largest cell phone carrier América Móvile. Total Wireless offers many affordable, no-contract cell phone plans starting at $25 per month for 1GB of LTE data. Total Wireless uses the Verizon network for coverage and supports full-speed LTE data.
Total Wireless offers a wide selection of iPhones and Android phones to choose from on their website. However, for the best experience we recommend you bring your own unlocked smartphone to use with Total Wireless. An unlocked smartphone means it isn’t tied to any carrier or contract, and it gives you the freedom to switch plans or carriers at any time.
You can find great deals on unlocked smartphones on a site like Swappa, with whom we have an affiliate partnership. We feel Swappa can help you save money on your new smartphone, offering discounts between 20% and 50% off.
Total Wireless offers a point system for plan discounts and rewards. 100 points equals $1. If you enable auto-refill, you will get a 5% discount off the price of your plan.
Total Wireless also offers family plans, which allow you to have multiple lines on one account. The way family plans work is you get a pool of data that is shared between all of the lines. Total Wireless’s family plans are actually quite reasonable, offering an equivalent of 25GB of data per line for just $24 per person.
Total Wireless uses Verizon’s 4G LTE network for coverage. At this time Total Wireless does not offer 5G coverage or support on Verizon’s 5G network.
Total Wireless offers stateside international calling with their Global Calling add on.
Total Wireless does not support international data roaming. Their service plans will only work within the United States.
Total Wireless adds standard taxes and regulatory fees to the cost of their cell phone plans.
