Our Recommended Plans and Why We Chose Them

Here's why we think our top picks will be great options for you.

Searching for the Best Cheap Verizon Plans?

Verizon’s amazing nationwide coverage and impressive range of cell phones makes the carrier a perennial leader among cellular companies.

But customers who are already signed on to Verizon’s network can keep their phones and their numbers while migrating to a plan which offers the same coverage at much lower prices.

Here are the best cheap Verizon plans for 2021:

Ting: Affordable, Flexible Pricing

Ting's flex plan infographic

Ting offers many of the benefits of a larger carrier and was one of the first to popularize the notion of paying only for what you use.

While the company offers high-end smartphones and many features, it’s still possible to keep your usage and monthly bill low.

Ting has mobile plans starting at just $10 a month, and also offers unlimited plans starting at $45.

The Flex plan includes unlimited talk and text for $10 a month, with pay-as-you-go high-speed data at $5 per GB. You can also share your cellular data with multiple lines. A three line family plan where each person uses 0.5GB would cost just $40/month, or $13.33 per line. This makes Ting Flex a great choice for low-usage families.

The Set 5 plan is another affordable plan we recommend. It includes unlimited talk and text plus 5GB of high-speed data for $25 a month. If you run through your plan’s data allotment, you can buy more high-speed data for $5 per GB at any time through the Ting Mobile dashboard and app.

Ting supports the same features you’d expect from a premium wireless carrier. All of their plans include 5G access, mobile hotspot, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail, and options for making international calls or getting service when you travel abroad.

Xfinity Mobile: Tons of Features

Xfinity Mobile's $15 by-the-gig plan infographic

Existing Xfinity customers can tap into some of the innovative deals from Xfinity Mobile. Xfinity offers several options for new customers, including by-the-gig options and unlimited plans.

The by-the-gig options are 1GB for $15, 3GB for $30, or 10GB for $60. The by-the-gig plans are great options for families. You can share your cellular data with up to 10 lines on your account with no additional charges. For example, a family of four can get the 10GB plan for $60, share the data between lines, and the cost per line comes out to just $15.

If you need more data, the company’s hallmark plan is their unlimited plan for $45/month. The multi-line discount drops the price to just $30/line for four lines, which is cheaper than what Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile are offering for unlimited data.

The unlimited plan includes 20GB of high-speed data before your speeds are reduced to 1.5Mbps download and 750Kbps upload. 20GB is plenty of data for most people, so you’re not likely to notice the reduced speeds.

Xfinity Mobile’s plan features sets them apart from other providers. Xfinity is one of two carriers to offer access to Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G network, which boasts insanely fast speeds of up to 2Gbps download.

All Xfinity Mobile plans include VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, mobile hotspot, and low-cost rates for making international calls or using your cell phone plan when you travel abroad.

By-the-gig customers also get priority data, which means you get faster speeds than prepaid subscribers whenever the Verizon network is busy. This can make a big difference at sports games, crowded stadiums, concerts, airports, or other crowded locations.

Currently, Xfinity is offering $50 for customers who make the switch and bring their one phone.

US Mobile: Tons of Plans to Choose From

US Mobile's $15 5GB plan infographic

US Mobile is a long-running provider with 24/7 customer service, 5G coverage available, and plenty of flexible, no-contract plans.

By using Verizon’s network, you get cheaper plans with trusted coverage. All plans have unlimited text and talk, with 1GB of data starting at $12 a month. Other options include the $15 5GB plan, the $30 30GB plan, or the $45 unlimited plan.

You could also choose to go with US Mobile’s new Pooled Plans. Pooled plans let you share your cellular data with as many lines as you want. It costs $9 per line and $2 per GB of data. A family of four could get 10GB of shared data for $57.92 per month, or just $14.48 per line. That’s less than Xfinity Mobile!

You get plenty of great features with US Mobile, too. You have a beautiful account dashboard for managing your lines, and a data analytics tool to see exactly how much cellular data each line is using.

All US Mobile plans include visual voicemail, VoLTE, and 5G access.

Unfortunately, Ultra Wideband 5G is not supported yet, so you won’t see those crazy fast 2Gbps speeds like you will on Xfinity Mobile or Verizon directly.

Another great feature about US Mobile is that their plans include up to 10GB of free international roaming data so you can stay connected when you travel abroad. The international data is available for eSIM compatible phones, such as the iPhone 8 or newer or the Pixel 3a or newer.

Finally, US Mobile offers a great family discount on their unlimited plan. The price drops to as low as $25/line with three or more lines. Families also get to choose a perk with their plan, such as getting their favorite subscription service included for free. Options include Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, HBO Max, Apple Music, Spotify, and more!

Visible: The Lowest-Cost Unlimited Plan Available

Visible's $40 unlimited plan infographic

Visible has become known in the wireless space as providing one of the best-value unlimited data plans in the industry.

They offer truly unlimited data for $40 per month, and the Party Pay group discount drops the price down to just $25 per month. All taxes and fees are included, so what you see is what you pay. It’s the best low-cost unlimited plan out there.

You may expect compromises with such an affordable plan, but Visible still includes the same features as more premium plans.

You get VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, visual voicemail, and unlimited hotspot data at 5Mbps.

Visible even recently added new features to their plan, too, making it even better. You now get international calls to Canada, Mexico, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, and there is a new referral program that can drop your monthly cost to as low as $5.

Surprisingly, Visible even includes access to Verizon’s 5G network, with speeds up to 200Mbps.

Visible’s affordable price and premium features make it an excellent option for those looking for an unlimited plan on a budget. Read more about Visible in our Visible review.
