Does boom! Mobile offer family plans?

boom! Mobile previously offered shared data plans that were available on the AT&T network.

However, as of July 29th, 2021, boom! Mobile no longer offers plans on the AT&T network due to contract issues with AT&T.

As a result, boom! Mobile no longer offers any family plans.

What network does boom! Mobile use for coverage?

boom! Mobile offers plans that use either the T-Mobile network or the Verizon network to provide coverage. Plans only use one network to provide coverage and will not switch between the networks.

T-Mobile’s LTE bands are 2, 4, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, and 71. T-Mobile’s 5G bands are n41, n71, n260, and n261.

Verizon’s LTE bands are 2, 4, 5, 13, 46, 48, and 66. Verizon’s 5G bands are n260 and n261.

LTE and 5G bands marked in bold are the primary bands that the networks use to provide coverage.

Other non-bolded LTE and 5G bands are typically used to provide supplemental coverage.

The more LTE and 5G bands your phone has for a particular network, the better coverage and faster speeds you will get on that network.

What makes boom! Mobile unique?

boom! Mobile was previously known for offering great plans on the AT&T network.

The plans were virtually the same as the plans AT&T was offering directly, but for significantly less per month.

You even got the same postpaid priority data, 5G support, eSIM support, and even international roaming options via AT&T’s International Day Pass.

However, since boom! Mobile lost their agreement with AT&T, they are really just mediocre T-Mobile and Verizon MVNO .

Their plans are not special or unique, nor are they particularly affordable compared to the competition.

For example, a 2GB plan on boom! Red (Verizon) is $19 per month. For the same $19, you can get a 5GB plan from US Mobile that also uses the Verizon network for coverage.

The only interesting plans from boom! Mobile right now are their annual plans.

You can get 4GB of data on the T-Mobile network for either a 3-month or 12-month bundle. The 3-month plan comes out to at a rate of $15/month, and the 12-months plan comes out to a rate of $13.67/month.

Those prices are as good or a little cheaper than what Mint Mobile is offering on the T-Mobile network.

What features does boom! Mobile support?

boom! Mobile supports different features on the T-Mobile and Verizon networks.

boom! Purple (T-Mobile)

On the T-Mobile network, boom! Mobile supports visual voicemail, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, mobile hotspot, and 4K video streaming.

boom! Red (Verizon)

On the Verizon network, boom! Mobile supports visual voicemail, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, and mobile hotspot. We have not been able to confirm video streaming quality at this time.

What features does boom! Mobile NOT support?

boom! Mobile currently does not offer options for long-distance calling or international data roaming.

It is also unclear if boom! Mobile supports 5G access on either T-Mobile or Verizon at this time.

Does boom! Mobile offer any discounts, promotions, or referral programs on their service?

There are no discounts available from boom! Mobile at this time.

Who is boom! Mobile best for?

Given boom! Mobile’s poor website design, the lack of a mobile application to manage your account, and the fact that some of their best plans on the AT&T network were discontinued, the truth is it is hard to recommend boom! Mobile at this time.

US Mobile offers better plans at cheaper rates on the Verizon network, and Mint Mobile offers better plans on the T-Mobile network.

Plus, both Mint Mobile and US Mobile offer beautiful mobile applications for managing your account, and they offer options for international data roaming (a feature boom! Mobile was lacking).

The only good plans from boom! Mobile right now are their 3-month and 12-month plans on the T-Mobile network.

But even then, I’d still probably recommend Mint Mobile instead for the better overall experience when it comes to sign up, activation, managing your account, and getting support.

Who is boom! Mobile not a good fit for?

At this time most consumers will probably find better options from Mint Mobile, US Mobile, or other MVNOs.

Should you sign up for boom! Mobile?

We think most people will be better off getting a low-cost plan from other MVNOs or postpaid carriers at this time.

Will my phone work with boom! Mobile?

Most unlocked phones will work with boom! Mobile.

And unlocked phone means it isn’t tied to any carrier, contract, or financing agreement.

You just need to make sure your phone will work on either the Verizon or T-Mobile networks and it will work with boom! Mobile’s service.
