Boom Mobile is a prepaid cell phone carrier known as a mobile virtual network operator, or MVNO.
An MVNO is simply any cell phone carrier that does not operate its own cellular network.
Instead of building their own networks, MVNOs make agreements with the four big carriers to use their cellular networks for coverage.
In Boom Mobile’s case, it uses the T-Mobile or Verizon networks for coverage.

boom! Mobile’s plans start as $12/month for 1,200 minutes, unlimited texts, and 1GB of data.

boom! Mobile previously offered shared data plans that were available on the AT&T network.
However, as of July 29th, 2021, boom! Mobile no longer offers plans on the AT&T network due to contract issues with AT&T.
As a result, boom! Mobile no longer offers any family plans.
Tablet and smartwatch plans are currently not available from boom! Mobile.
They do offer hotspot plans, however you need to use the plans in boom! Mobile’s BOOMfi device.
Plans range from 50GB for $80 per month to 450GB for $145 per month.
boom! Mobile offers plans that use either the T-Mobile network or the Verizon network to provide coverage. Plans only use one network to provide coverage and will not switch between the networks.
T-Mobile’s LTE bands are 2, 4, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, and 71. T-Mobile’s 5G bands are n41, n71, n260, and n261.
Verizon’s LTE bands are 2, 4, 5, 13, 46, 48, and 66. Verizon’s 5G bands are n260 and n261.
LTE and 5G bands marked in bold are the primary bands that the networks use to provide coverage.
Other non-bolded LTE and 5G bands are typically used to provide supplemental coverage.
The more LTE and 5G bands your phone has for a particular network, the better coverage and faster speeds you will get on that network.

boom! Mobile supports different features on the T-Mobile and Verizon networks.
boom! Purple (T-Mobile):
On the T-Mobile network, boom! Mobile supports visual voicemail, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, mobile hotspot, and 4K video streaming.
boom! Red (Verizon):
On the Verizon network, boom! Mobile supports visual voicemail, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, and mobile hotspot. We have not been able to confirm video streaming quality at this time.
Most unlocked phones will work with boom! Mobile.
And unlocked phone means it isn’t tied to any carrier, contract, or financing agreement.
You just need to make sure your phone will work on either the Verizon or T-Mobile networks and it will work with boom! Mobile’s service.
