Ranked by what each costs over three years, among every carrier’s offers for the same answers; the number on each card is its place. “Up to” is the most the offer states for that phone.

How T-Mobile’s phone deals work

1

Credits arrive monthly, not up front

The credit isn’t money off the price today. T-Mobile charges the phone in full and takes the credit off your bill a little each month, over 36 months.

2

The phone is financed over 36 months

You pay the phone off on your bill, month by month. Pay it off early and the remaining credits stop; you owe what’s left of the price.

3

Who qualifies

15 of 21 offers need a trade-in; the rest don’t. 6 of 21 are for new customers only. 1 of 21 are for existing customers only.

T-Mobile’s phone offers are usually monthly bill credits over the phone’s payment agreement, and many need a particular plan, a trade-in, or a new line. Some are for people switching from another carrier; others are for existing customers upgrading.

Pay the phone off early, move to a plan the offer doesn’t allow, or leave T-Mobile, and the credits you haven’t received usually stop. The plan an offer needs is part of its price, which is why this page ranks on the three-year total.

Each card names the plan its offer needs and how the credit is paid, and each offer’s detail page has its full terms: what happens if you pay the phone off early, change plans or leave.

Is a T-Mobile phone deal right for you?

Good deal if you

  • Want T-Mobile’s network
  • Will keep the line and the plan for the 36 months the credits run
  • Have a phone to trade in — the offers that take one give the most

Skip it if you

  • Might leave, pay the phone off or change plans early — the remaining credits stop
  • Mostly want the lowest bill — Red Pocket Essentials, on the same network, is $1,716 less over three years for the iPhone Duo

Questions people ask

Are T-Mobile’s phone deals better if I switch?
Sometimes. Some offers are only for people switching, some only for existing customers, and some for both. This page’s example is switching; price it for your situation to see what you’d qualify for as an existing customer.
Do T-Mobile deals need a specific plan?
Many do. Each card names the plan its offer needs, and the total counts that plan for three years.
What if I pay my phone off early?
Usually the credits you haven’t received stop. Each offer’s detail page has its terms.
Why is a smaller credit ranked above a bigger one?
Because the ranking is on what you pay over three years, not on the size of the credit. A big credit that needs an expensive plan can cost more overall than a smaller one on a cheaper plan.
What’s in the 3-year total?
The plan for 36 months, the phone, activation and other fees, less every credit and whatever the old phone is worth — traded to the carrier, to the maker, or sold yourself, whichever the offer allows and costs least. Sales tax is not included.

Sales tax 9.15% — the rate charged at a retailer checkout in this ZIP. Your exact rate can differ.

Storage: the smallest it comes in.

Trade-in storage: the smallest it comes in. If yours has more, selling it yourself is worth more.

Plan prices assume you sign up for AutoPay where the carrier gives a discount for it; without it, those plans cost more each month.
